Emirates, MAS unveil new routes with 15 destinations in Malaysia

Valued partner: MAS said it had entered into a codeshare partnership with Emirates, giving MAS passengers access to 90 locations in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, served from Emirates

KUALA LUMPUR: Emirates and Malaysia Airlines added 15 destinations within Malaysia under their codeshare agreement while enhancing their frequent flyer benefits.

Emirates said on Tuesday the routes are to Langkawi, Penang, Alor Setar, Kota Baru, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu, Johor Baru, Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Labuan.
Emirates  executive vice-president and chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori said the codeshare with MAS will provide more seamless travel options for passengers to visit 15 cities in Malaysia and elsewhere in the region with a convenient connection in Kuala Lumpur.
“Reciprocally, travellers from the region will benefit from an expanded network including 90 destinations spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas,” he said.

Travellers will also be able to earn and redeem miles when flying on any Emirates and MAS-operated flights, he added.
Apart from enjoying the convenience of a single combined ticket for Emirates and MAS-operated flights, passengers would also enjoy seamless travel options, and will be able to receive their tickets – as well as check in their baggage – at point of origin, to their final destination.

Emirates Skywards members and Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich members, members of the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes, will be able to accrue and redeem miles on all international and domestic flights operated by both airlines.

On all routes covered in the codeshare, the baggage allowance is 30kg for economy class, 40kg for business class and 50kg for first class.

Emirates is offering special fares for travellers in Malaysia from now until April 8 for travel until Dec 31.

From Penang, passengers can enjoy economy class fares starting from RM2,839 to Paris, RM2,989 to London, and RM3,499 to Dubai.

From Miri, Kuching or Sibu, economy class fares start from RM3,239 to Paris, RM3,389 to London and RM3,899 to Dubai.
