KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd on Wednesday announced that 96 applicants have qualified for the construction of the RM9 billion Bandar Utama-Klang Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT 3) project.
It said the 96 were identified out of 124 applicants that met the requirements of a weightage-based evaluation criteria upon completion of the pre-qualification stage for competitive tendering of the 37km project.
President and group chief executive officer Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz said each applicant was evaluated based on the individual company’s structure, financial information, proven experience, project implementation structure, among others, to qualify for the infrastructure and systems package.
“As the pre-qualified tenderers have been shortlisted, Prasarana and project delivery partner, MRCB George Kent, will now initiate the tendering process for the LRT3 project,” he said at a briefing with the pre-qualified tenderers in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
Azmi said eight categories out of the total 12 were announced on Wednesday and the remainder would be done in two to three weeks.
“The eight categories include four in infrastructure and four in systems while the remaining categories include automatic fair collection, trackworks and conductor power rail, depot equipment and track maintenance vehicles and electronic access control systems,” he said.
Azmi said the pre-qualification was no guarantee of work and the tenderers were responsible to ensure that all documents submitted were true, accurate, legitimate and complete as per requirements stated in the tender document.
“If any information is found on the contrary, Prasarana reserves the right to disqualify the applicant,” he said.
The tender period extends from May 2016 onwards from the first submission of the first scheduled tender to the final award of the last scheduled tender.
The LRT3 would have 26 stations with a target of completion for the first phase by August 2020. - Bernama
