KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics has unveiled the new 2016 Samsung Galaxy J Series, an all-around smartphone for data-savvy users, an upgrade from last year’s variation.

The new version returns with the unique feature of Ultra Data Saving (UDS) Mode which is capable of compressing data efficiently and restricting background application to help save data.

Samsung Electronics vice-president (mobile, IT and digital imaging) Lee Jui Siang said the UDS would allow users to save up to 50% on their mobile data, as well as increase battery standby time by two folds.

“We want to ensure that the new series fits current consumer needs of evolving data usage while delivering better value.

“Our Galaxy J series has been extremely well (received) in Malaysia and it is one of our best-selling range of phones,” he told reporters after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy J Series (2016) in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Lee said this year, Samsung is partnering with YES, a global frontrunner in mobile 4G, to further enhance consumers’ user experience.

“With purchase of any one of Samsung’s 2016 Galaxy J series smartphones and Yes 4G’s SIM card bundle pack, consumers will receive a free Yes 4G LTE Prepaid SIM Card with 30GB data valid for two months,” he added.

Lee said Samsung was also currently running The Great Galaxy Raya Deals until July 17 with prizes of 30 cars to be won with the purchase of Samsung Galaxy devices worth RM300 and above.

“With our Hari Raya promotion ongoing, consumers that purchase the new Galaxy J series will also stand a chance to win our fantastic prizes,” he added.

The new 2016 Samsung Galaxy J Series comes in three models, namely Galaxy J1, Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 -- all with super AMOLED screen of 4.5-inch, 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch with Dual-SIM slot, respectively.

All the models will be available from June 16 at a recommended retail price (inclusive GST) of RM449 (J1), RM849 (J5) and RM1,049 (J7) in three colours options - black, white and gold. - Bernama
