KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) is targeting RM3.6bil in total deposits for its Premium Savings Certificate (SSP) this year.
Its senior vice president and head (retail and community business) Datuk Mearia Hamzah said to-date, the figure had touched RM3bil and the remaining RM600mil in deposits will be driven by the introduction of SSP Special Draws, offering RM1mil every month, from June 1 until Dec 31, 2016.
“There are also other main rewards to be offered in the form of luxury cars for the monthly draw and RM10,000 SSP reward for the Junior Draw category,” she told reporters at the SSP draw for April 2016 in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
At the ceremony, Chai Nam Kiong from Kuala Lumpur won the BSN SSP RM1mil under the Special Draw category, while for the Monthly Draw category, it was won by Tengku Noraini Tuan Jaffar from Kelantan, receiving a Mercedes Benz C200 and for the Junior Draw it was won by Muhammad Izzul Afiq Zulkifli, taking away BSN SSP RM10,000.
Its Special Draw rewards selected SSP holders with RM1 million every month, for seven months, accompanied by its Monthly Draw and Junior Draw prizes.
Towards the end of 2015, it was reported that BSN had a total of 9.1 million customers contributing RM13.8bil in retail deposits.
“Our target for retail deposits for 2016 is RM15bil and SSP will be the key driver for retail deposit growth,” she said.
On the outlook of retail and community business this year, she said given the challenging economic scenario, BSN would mobilise savings through all its channels and leverage on the huge customer base that it had currently.
“We will focus on our tactical plans to generate deposits from existing customers and attract new savers,” she said. - Bernama
