Berjaya bullish on Vietnam

Ooi: ‘At the moment, 88 of this paper lottery is concentrated in the south of Vietnam, so the north holds significant growth potential.’

HO CHI MINH CITY: Vietnam holds huge promise for the lottery business considering that the illegal market is valued at around US$9bil a year and that the northern region remains largely untapped, said Berjaya Gia Thinh Investment Technology (Berjaya GTI) general director Ooi Lee Meng.

Speaking to reporters after the launch of Berjaya GTI’s lottery operation here, Ooi also pointed out that the size of the current legal “paper lottery”, which are run by provincial lottery companies, is around US$3bil a year.
