Malaysia wins RM10bil power plant job in Bangladesh

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has been awarded a contract by the Bangladeshi Government to build a 1,320MW coal-fired power plant in Bangladesh at an estimated cost of US$2.5bil (RM10bil).

“It’s final. The Bangladeshi Cabinet made the decision to award the project to the Malaysian Government. Now, a Malaysian consortium will implement the project but the consortium will do a feasibility study first,” special envoy for infrastructure to India and South Asia Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said in a statement yesterday.
