October auto sales fall 14%

Declining demand: The MAA has revised its initial 2016 total industry volume forecast of 650,000 units downwards to 580,000 units due to weak sales in the first six months of the year.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian automotive sales fell 14.17% to 47,879 units last month from 55,788 units in the previous corresponding period, as consumers adopted a wait and see attitude pending the Budget 2017 announcement, said the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

In a statement yesterday, the MAA said that of the 47,879 units sold last month, 42,522 units were passenger vehicles while the remaining 5,357 units were commercial vehicles.
