KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has expressed full confidence in its managing director Datuk Seri Zukri Samat who is due to retire in June 2017 and he will complete his tenure.
Bank Islam chairman Datuk Zamani Abdul Ghani had on Thursday reaffirmed that Zukri is of “high repute” as the managing director of Bank Islam.
“Under his leadership since June 2006 the bank has undergone transformation and has achieved remarkable financial growth. Today, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd is the leader in stand-alone Islamic banks in Malaysia.
“We reiterate that Datuk Seri Zukri Samat has the full confidence of the Board as he completes his tenure and helps to implement a smooth transition to a soon to be appointed MD,” said Zamani.
Zamani issued the statement following a posting on Facebook by Raja Mohd Shahrim on Wednesday about Zukri.
“I would like to state that there is absolutely no truth in the posting. We regret that during the last few months of Zukri’s tenure at the bank, that this irresponsible and unfounded allegation has surfaced,” he said.
