SunCon group bags three deals worth RM186.3mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Group Construction Bhd’s (SunCon) units Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB) and Sunway Geotechnics (M) Sdn Bhd (SunGeo) have secured three contracts worth RM186.3mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the construction and engineering group said SCSB had received a letter of award from Gas District Cooling (Putrajaya) Sdn Bhd for the proposed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) at gas district cooling (GDC) plant 1 in Precinct 1, Putrajaya, for a chilled water supply system and a power generation system.

The contract is valued at RM152.4mil and the total construction period is from March 27, 2017, to Aug 27, 2018.

Meanwhile, SunGeo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SCSB, received separate letters of award for bore piling works for two of Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd’s (Prolintas) highways - the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) and the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

The SUKE letter of award was issued by Cergas Murni Sdn Bhd for a contract sum of RM18.06mil. The project will begin on May 15 and is expected to be completed on April 30, 2018.

The DASH letter of award was given by Usahasama Monza - Latimer for a contract sum of RM15.83mil. The DASH project will start on March 23 and is expected to be completed on Jan 16, 2018.

SunCon said the GDC, SUKE and DASH projects were expected to contribute positively to the earnings of its group from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017, onwards.

With these projects, the SunCon group’s outstanding order book to-date amounts to RM4.9bil.
