KUALA LUMPUR: A consortium comprising Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd’s unit PBJV Group Sdn Bhd and Beumer Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co KG has been awarded a contract from Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd’s (PetChem) subsidiary Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn Bhd (ABF).
Barakah Offshore told Bursa Malaysia that the value of the contract for PBJV based on its work scope was estimated at RM35mil.
The statement did not provide the stakes in the consortium held by PBJV and its partner, a Germany-based group that makes intralogistics systems for conveying, loading, palletising, packaging, sortation and distribution technology.
Barakah Offshore said the consortium received the letter of award from ABF to provide basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning package to rejuvenate the urea ship loading facilities at the ABF plant in Bintulu, Sarawak.
The contract involves basic and engineering, procurement, fabrication/ construction/installation for all components, works and facilities for ABF’s urea plant; pre-commissioning, inspection and testing; and commissioning, start-up and installation of the plant’s facilities.
“The facilities to be replaced/partially replaced are shiploader, compact substation, screening station, tripper car at bulk urea storage, reclaimer scrapper, conveyor systems and transfer station,” Barakah Offshore said.
The company said the work for the contract would be carried out from June 1 until Dec 31, 2019, with an option for extension of up to four months by ABF.
ABF is a joint venture between five Asean countries, with Malaysia (through PetChem) holding a 63.5% stake.
