KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has approved DRB-Hicom Bhd’s request for the suspension in the trading of its securities from 9am tomorrow (Thursday) pending the release of a material announcement.
The trading suspension comes the day before DRB-Hicom and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group are scheduled to sign a definitive agreement to formalise the latter as a shareholder in DRB-Hicom’s subsidiary Proton Holdings Sdn Bhd.
DRB-Hicom shares saw brisk trading last month on the day after it signed a heads of agreement with Geely for the sale of a 49.9% stake in Proton at an undisclosed price.
Close to 71 million DRB-Hicom shares, valued at RM124mil, changed hands on May 25 in what was its busiest trading day in at least five years
Under the agreement, Geely would also buy a 51% stake in British sportscar maker Lotus from Proton for £51mil (RM276.2mil).
The remaining 49% stake in Lotus would be taken up by Etika Automotive Sdn Bhd.
