KUALA LUMPUR: Ranhill Holdings Bhd, which is primarily involved in the environment and power sectors, has relocated its corporate headquarters from here to Johor, in a bid to strengthen its core business in the southern region and also Sabah.
In a statement today, president/chief executive Tan Sri Hamdan Mohamad, said by streamlining its operations, the company would be able to take its business to the next level, adding that its largest operating centre, SAJ Ranhill Sdn Bhd (SAJ), was located in Johor Bahru (JB).
“While rising operational costs here contributed to the move to a certain degree, there is also immense potential to be tapped in JB, which has seen tremendous developments over the last decade,” he said.
Ranhill said closer proximity to its main operating sites would also support its aim of becoming more relevant and responsive to its businesses and key external stakeholders, while enabling a more efficient cost management structure.
“Ranhill is currently the exclusive water operator for the entire state of Johor through SAJ, which accounted for almost 75 per cent of our total revenue in 2016,” it said.
In December 2016, SAJ had inked a memorandum of understanding with Indah Water Konsortium for a joint review on the joint billing exercise, with the intention of integrating water and sewerage services in Johor, which was expected to contribute to the group’s profitability.
Currently, Ranhill Group has 12 wastewater treatment plants in China, with total capacity of 290 million litre per day (mld).
The group also operates four potable water treatment plants, four wastewater treatment plants and a reclaimed water treatment plant with total capacity of 102 mld in Thailand.
In the power sector, the group operates and maintains two power generation assets, with a combined capacity of 380 megawatts- Bernama.
