The National Security Bill tabled in the Dewan Rakyat will give powers to the Prime Minister to declare a security area in the event of threats to national security.
Section 3 of the Bill empowers the eight member National Security Council to act as the central authority for the Government to address issues that "seriously disturb or theaten" national security.
