PETALING JAYA: The civil lawsuit filed by the United States' Department of Justice (DoJ) to seize US$540mil (RM2.317bil) worth of assets allegedly linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is politically motivated, says Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.

Bernama reported Mohamed Apandi as saying that this was because the DoJ had never made any official request to the Attorney-General's Chambers to obtain any clarification or information on the claims made by them.
