Four offences punishable by caning under amendments


PETALING JAYA: Sodomy, illicit sex (zina), consumption of alcohol and false accusation of zina are the four syariah offences punishable by caning at an open space under the amendments in the Syariah Crimi­nal Procedure Enactment 2002.

“All the 35 clauses in the Syariah Criminal Procedure Enactment 2002 Bill have been amended to streamline penalties such as whipping, fines and some technical procedures,” said Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
