NRD stands its ground on Muslim child’s name

PETALING JAYA: The National Registration Department (NRD) will continue to register the births of Muslim children conceived out of wedlock as usual, pending an appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision to allow these children to take the name of their fathers.

Any changes to the current procedures will only come after the Federal Court rules on the appeal filed by the Attorney-General’s Chambers, said NRD director-general Datuk Mohd Yazid Ramli (pic).
