Bar wants court to decide on top judges

KUALA LUMPUR: In a move unprecedented in the nation’s legal history, the Malaysian Bar will challenge in court the appointments of Chief Justice Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif and Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin as additional judges in the Federal Court.

As a sign of protest against the appointments, Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif and Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin shall not be invited to any social function of the Malaysian Bar or Bar Council, and Members of the Bar are encouraged to decline social invitations from them, or inviting them.
