Fire risk at tahfiz schools worrying


PETALING JAYA: Unregistered and private tahfiz (religious) schools are mushrooming and their fire safety measures are a major concern to the Fire and Rescue Department.

Its director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said the department was unable to keep tabs on these schools that have sprouted on the fringes of towns and were not under the jurisdiction of local governments or municipalities.
