Body of 12-year-old boy feared drowned found in Tawau river

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 12-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a river in Tawau on Thursday (Dec 15) has been found.

Mohamad Raffizal Abdullah's body was found 50m from where he was reported to have gone missing at Sungai Kebun JKK Kalabakan, Tawau.

The initial report of him going missing was received by the district Fire and Rescue Department at 8.07pm.

"The Tawau fire station was alerted by the Kalabakan voluntary team about the incident and rushed to the scene.

"The body of the victim was recovered by the firemen with the help of the volunteer team and members of the public at 8.30pm.

"His remains had been handed over to the police for further actions.

"The operation ended at 8.50pm," a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said.
