Man killed in four car pre-dawn Desa Mentari blaze


PETALING JAYA: A man died from burns sustained when four parked vehicles caught fire in the early hours of Saturday (Sept 16) morning.

When contacted, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that the department arrived at the scene in Desa Mentari at around 2.50am following a distress call.

He said that four cars were on fire and one of them had been completely burnt, adding that the other three were damaged but not destroyed.

"A 67-year-old victim was found in one of the cars that was around 50% damaged by the fire and he died due to the burns sustained. The body has been sent to the Sg Buloh hospital by the police," he said.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said in a text message that the police will release a statement on the incident soon.
