Local software developer eSolved MSC Sdn Bhd is hoping to inspire people to get healthy with its new app, Fitness In My Pocket.
The app offers workout plans by experienced trainers in three categories – get strong, lean or fast.
It features workout videos by three trainers: Malaysian Commonwealth Games gold medallist and three time Olympian Josiah Ng, Melbourne-based personal trainer Ernie Tang, and certified fitness trainer Laurel Stelzer.
“From my own experience, coaching can mean the difference between achieving your desired fitness results or failing,” says eSolved chief executive officer Charles Tang.
“There’s something about having a plan that’s been created by a professional that makes you want to follow it because there’s no second guessing involved.”
He says those who exercise without a plan can easily overdo the workout and risk getting injured.
According to the Penang-based company which specialises in e-commerce software, the app was developed with financial assistance from the Creative Industry Development Fund grant under MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).
The app is offered free as it’s part of the company’s social initiative for CSR (corporate social responsibility).
Depending on the category the user chose, he or she will get customised workouts. For instance, the get strong option will involve workouts such as swiss ball push up, chin up, standing hammer curl and squats.
Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin, who was at the launch, said that the apps is a wonderful initiative which brings together technology and exercise.
“Technology is a great enabler, but at its core what this app is about is inspiration – inspiring people to find time to get fitter and healthier,” he said.
