Methanol poisoning claims four more lives, number of fatalities rises to 33

Since the methanol poisoning incidents, the Health Ministry has stepped up checks on shops selling alcohol to ensure that the products meet the regulations.

PETALING JAYA: The death toll from methanol poisoning continues to rise, with four more recorded as of noon Sunday (Sept 23), bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 33.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that two of the deaths were recorded in Selangor, while the remaining two deaths were recorded in Perak and Kuala Lumpur.
