On Aug 13, I hosted the annual event of celebrating teachers by organising the Indera Mahkota Parliament Excellence Awards Night and Teacher's Day. It was attended by 400 teachers, students, and parents from 42 secondary and primary schools.

August 12 is designated as International Youth Day. This year's theme is “Inter-Generational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”. It refers to the cross-generational measures needed to realise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and that no one is left behind.

AUG 8 is designated as Asean Day. The theme for this year is “Regional Humanitarian Aid”.
End game for the Myanmar conflict
ON July 26, I had a fruitful discussion with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Myanmar, Dr Noeleen Heyzer. We discussed various issues: the Asean 5-Point Consensus (5PC), a framework for Myanmar with an end game, humanitarian aid and education for refugees.
