40,000 cops to be on duty during Raya

KUALA LUMPUR: With the lurking threat of militant attacks and the ongoing conflict in Marawi in the southern Philippines adding to security concerns, more than 40,000 policemen will be deployed during the Hari Raya festive period.

This is more than the number of personnel on active duty during Hari Raya last year, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said, with the force imposing a freeze on leave.
